Yoga for Mum & Baby

Our Yoga for Mum and Baby classes incorporate both baby yoga and postnatal yoga for you to ensure you both leave feeling refreshed, revived and relaxed!

Our classes are friendly, down-to-earth and non-judgmental. They last around an hour and involve yoga for mum, yoga for baby and some lovely deep relaxation together. All postures can be practiced with or without your baby, depending on how you prefer to focus (and whether the baby is playing ball that day!).

We include breathing techniques and focused yoga postures for mums, gently helping to rebuild strength, stamina and fitness. Baby yoga has been scientifically proven to help with baby’s brain development, growth, self-soothing and common ailments such as colic, reflux and disrupted sleep.

We don’t mind if your baby cries, needs feeding, sleeps etc. during class – this class is entirely baby-led so ‘go with the flow’ is the motto! Our classes are suitable for all levels of yoga practice too so please don’t worry if you have never done yoga before, that’s what we are here for!

Of course, you also get the opportunity to make lots of new friends! You will receive access to our supportive WhatsApp group to keep in contact in between classes, as well as access to our closed Facebook group.

We recommend waiting at least 6 weeks after you have given birth (8-10 weeks following an abdominal birth). As always, the most important thing is to listen to your body – if you are in any pain or discomfort it’s worth waiting a few weeks. During the class there is no pressure for you or baby to do anything that’s uncomfortable – it’s very relaxed!

You can continue to come along right up until your baby is on the move, at which point we can offer you an alternative class (it becomes less relaxing for you in this situation!).

Our classes are held in:

  • Ipswich - Clip 'n Climb
  • Colchester - Greenstead Community Centre
  • Nayland - Nayland Village Hall

Adapt the posture to suit the body!

I'm always saying that we should adapt the pose to suit the body, not bend our body into a pretzel to get the perfect pose! It’s about making movement accessible and safe for all.
