? Ready for Part 3 of our mini-series? Here we go! ?
Asanas, the postures practiced in yoga, are the third of the 8 limbs of yoga. The practice of asana enables us to develop the habit of discipline and the ability to concentrate, both of which are essential for meditation.
When we talk about asana we are talking about the physical practice of yoga. However, the original meaning was simply a comfortable seat. Focusing the mind and working on stability and stillness is how asana is practiced (nothing about being able to put your leg behind your head is mentioned in the ancient texts! ?)
? I read somewhere once... "We use asana to do yoga. The poses themselves are not yoga". ?
I think this is a wonderful way of describing WHY it is essential to not break your body to get into crazy poses.... respect your body and adapt the pose to suit you, not fit your body into a pose! ?
⭐ All our classes have plenty of adaptations offered. This ensures you get the best out of our classes and don't leave feeling like you 'can't do a pose', you are perfect as you are ?.
