Ready for part 5 of our 'Eight Limbs of Yoga' mini-series? ?
Pratyahara is the fifth limb of Patanjali's eightfold path and generally translates as 'withdrawal of the senses'.
It's focus is to gain control of, or withdraw from, our reactions to external influences. This allows us to 'go inside' and connect with our inner world to maintain a calm, balanced meditation practice and in turn, a calm and balanced mind ?
In our crazy, busy worlds this can seem quite daunting, however try starting small. Withdrawing from influences could be managing your social media use, avoiding foods that don't make you feel nourished, or creating a beautiful, sacred space in your home ?
